A picture from our walk in the forest
and a link to Chapter 5 of the Magical Midlife Detectives
Hi!
Here in Finland spring finally won. Winter fought bravely, sending a few snowflakes even this week, but gave up and left.
My husband and I love to walk on an island called Ruissalo, situated right opposite to Turku Castle - it came under the castle rule in the 13th century. In the mid-16th century, the Duke of Finland took over its administration, and it became a park for hunting. Its fields provided food for the inhabitants of the castle. They cut the oak forests down to use in shipbuilding for Sweden-Finland to an extent a straight growing oak became a rarity. These days it is parkland and destroying the nature is forbidden. Anyone can come and walk on the forest paths.
I’ll attach a photo here from today’s walk. The wood anemones cover the forest floor, and the trees have begun to show signs of summer. Tiny leaves in beautiful fresh light green colour have appeared. Birds are singing everywhere. Yes, it is lovely. After the darkness of winter, it feels like food for the soul…
