Ghosts, libraries, and things that go “shh” in the night 👻
Haunted libraries, writing ghosts, and the stories that refuse to die.
Hi!
Ever notice how libraries are always a little bit haunted?
Maybe it’s the smell of old pages, or the way light falls through high windows. Or maybe it’s because stories never really die — they just whisper to each other when the lights go out.
📚 HAUNTED LITERATURE CORNER 📚
👻 Most haunted library (supposedly): The Peoria Public Library in Illinois, where three directors in a row died mysteriously in the early 1900s. (It’s still open. The books don’t bite. Probably.)
📖 Famous ghostwriter: Alexandre Dumas (The Three Musketeers) supposedly worked with a ghostwriter — who then claimed he deserved credit for the whole series. Dumas said, “Sir, you are mistaken. You are my secretary.”
📚 Haunted book alert: The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters — a slow, psychological ghost story perfect for October.
👻 Real-life ghost story: Mark Twain promised his family he’d send a sign after death. Years later, his daughter Jean claimed he appeared in her room.
WHY WE LOVE GHOST STORIES
Ghost stories aren’t really about death — they’re about what lingers.
Love, regret, unfinished business, unspoken words. The things we’d whisper if we could.
That’s what makes them timeless.

Happy haunting,

P.S. If you missed it: Magic Shield (Magical Midlife Detectives #2) is out now! Medusa’s hair has a mind of its own, and Nora’s life just got even more complicated. 👉 Grab Magic Shield here
P.P.S. Chapter 2 of The Twice Born Chronicles (“The Veil and the Blade”) just dropped — Lyra’s world is deepening, and the line between her two Londons is starting to blur. You can read it HERE.
P.P.P.S. Friday: We’ll lighten the mood with Literary Pickup Lines! Prepare to cringe, laugh, and maybe fall in love with a bookworm. 💘
