Is it fun to be a writer?

It sure if fun to write a book (until the umpteenth editing of the story you cooked up) - but it also means your mind is working on the plot all the time.  So if your writer friend is a bit absent minded, they may be in some distant galaxy far far far far far away in a time long long long ago.
