We recently went walking by the sea and saw a pair of swans that build a huge nest among the reeds every year. The proud mother had five tiny cygnets by her side. I took this photo from a distance so we would not disturb them (also it is not wise to approach swans - if they think you are a threat to their young, they will chase you off).
I posted Nephilim Quest #1 Shadowhunter’s Chapter 8 / The Hidden Message on my newsletter site. You can listen to the audio chapter for free. You’ll find it here.
I found the dream book mentioned in the chapter online and spent a whole day figuring out how I should create the hidden message. The G.W. Dillingham company, NY printed “What’s in a Dream – a Scientific and Practical Interpretation of Dreams” in 1901. So it is an actual book I am referring to. Of course, the hidden message is not in the actual book - I added the necessary words in the real chapters for my story's purposes.
Thought for the Day
Are you following your dream?
When I was searching for a quote for today, the words of Jonathan Livingston Seagull touched me. Why did I bother studying Egyptology and writing my books? What was the point? How did it benefit me? Didn’t it take all my spare time (I have a full-time job)?
Yes, it did. I kept going after my dream despite having limited time. My dream was to be an Egyptologist and author. I devoted my free time to my two passions- studying and writing.
It's hard to watch others pursue their dreams when one has chosen not to. It reminds them of their denied dreams.
I have seen how this denial can turn someone bitter. They don't want to be with those chasing their dream. Or at least they try to belittle their achievements, to drag the “achiever” down to their own misery. Misery loves company.
Do you have a painful dream inside your heart? Has someone convinced you it is not worth striving for?
Don’t believe them. Understand the pain you feel when thinking about your dream is a sign your dream is still alive. Don’t wait for long interrupted hours to work towards what you want to achieve. Set aside some time every day, even if it is only ten minutes. And do something during that time that takes you one step closer to your dream. Each journey starts with that first step, and when you take enough steps, you reach your goal.
This is your life. Live it in a way that increases your happiness.
A Little Laughter
This happened to a friend’s family many years ago. She had two small daughters who loved to spread their toys around - but not to gather them away.
One day, visitors were coming over and the mother asked the girls several times to take their toys away from the living room. They just kept on playing - and then the doorbell rang. The younger daughter froze for a second. Then she got up and run to the door.
“You clean up! I’ll delay them!” she yelled.
Quote for the Day
“We can lift ourselves out of ignorance, we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill. We can be free! We can learn to fly!”
- Jonathan Livingston Seagull
