Hi 👋 My love of reading also came from my parents. Fortunately our local library was just a 10 minute walk from our home. I was always in there getting books, so much so, that before I'd reached the age of 9, I'd gone through all the kids/teenagers section of books more than once 😬 I kept wanting to read the other books, that kids aren't allowed to check out yet. Because I was very upset I couldn't read anything new from there, my parents spoke to the librarians, they knew them well from their frequent visits. It was arranged that so long as my parents checked what I was picking, and there wasn't untoward things in the book, of which my dad especially was very strict on, I got lots of new reading material 😀

I come from a long line of military people protecting my love ones and innocent people is important to me. Grew up on stories on the bravery of the ANZAC nurses and soldiers.

unfortunately I agree. I was at a university where the lecturers taught in fear. I did my placement with an educator who lead with compassion and wisdom. Client health and safety was very important to her.

I loved fantasy and the military strategy that the heroes use to beat the enemy. I am a massive air fairy who wanted to work in the airforce to protect the people that protect us. I am fascinated with other worlds and the potential of what the mind can achieve.

I have also always loved fantasy books. Despite my MA in Egyptology I am definitely more of a story teller than an academic. And as a child I loved reading stories of WW II - how the underground movement fought the nazis. And any adventure story really - the Musketeers, LOTR (especially that - I actually learned English, Swedish, French and German by reading Lord of the Rings in different languages). I wanted to see the underdog win the overwhelming enemy. And still do.

Thank you so do I. I loved LOTR and I especially love WW2 stories. This was the time that the airforce was set up. In Australia Grace Wilson was a Matron at the Alfred hospital. She was a real heroine who protected those who protected us.

Hi from Australia, my love of books started in primary school when the teacher read the class a story in the afternoon, then in high school I joined the book club where you could buy books, I couldn't wait until they arrived. I still love the smell of a new book.I used to read to my daughter when I was pregnant with her before she was born and she also loves reading ,which is wonderful. I'ts a welcome escape from the real world and I get to travel the world through my books.

Happy reading

Gerri.

Oh I hear you... There's nothing better than a new book (well, also old books I haven't read before so "new" in that sense). I love physical books, but unfortunately I'm running out of shelf-space (300 Egyptology books take their space, and then there are all the novels I've bought. I could never throw away a book I have). Hubby dearest wasn't overly enthusiastic either with the idea we'd buy our neighbor's flat so I could turn it into a private library, so I'm mostly reading ebooks now LOL :D
